Real Nigga Review
Euro “July”
“Just tryna make the city I grew in proud”

cover

Ev is back with another one of his reviews. This time he gives his thoughts on Euro’s July poject that recently dropped.

Hmm where do I begin? Well first and foremost I gotta say as a providence native I’m proud and excited for the young boy from OUR city, as you should be, and coming off of hearing “Induction Speech” for the first time I was hyped to hear what he had in store.  With that said, let’s get into it!

Euro opens up with his rendition of “Paris Morton Music” I have to say I wish he would have picked his bars up off of this track and placed them on a different beat. Not that the bars are wack I just feel as though they don’t fit the best on this beat. However, he gets my attention back on the very next joint “I Know My Name” another smooth joint full of witty word play and cleaver bars. Euro delivers on this one. BUT the flow gets a little boring to me on this tape overall, again the bars are there, delivery struggles at times IMO. I’m not totally sold on the whole off beat flow but when he’s on the kid got some shit. My favorite joint on this project is by far “Preach” son cooked on this joint I was impressed. At the risk of sounding like a stuttering dick head homie can rap, and rap well, but honestly I’m just not totally sold on him being the one to catapult RI hip hop to where we all feel it belongs. Not that it’s his responsibility. It’s just placed on him because of the position that he’s in. Anyway this project shows that Euro has the potential to be a good artist I just think he needs more time. He has the cosign of all of his YMCMB cohorts, now he just needs to continue to develop. But what do I know I’m just a fat nigga with an opinion and a my notes app on my iPhone. When it’s all said and done I give Euro’s July a 2.75 out of 5 real nigga middle fingers. Cool listen but not much playback value, AGAIN THIS IS ALL MY OPINION! If you don’t like it fight me.

“Too Many Rappers, Not Enough Fans” – Mitch

What up tho? It’s been a while since I did one of these blogs but some shit needs to be addressed. I was just on twitter (like 30mins ago) and the homie @BigRud made mention of something that I too have an issue with. Most you rap niggas are solid waste in the form of humans, but your videos be looking MTV ready. Now not every trap star can rap my niggas. I say that to say this, just because you’re able to fund your dique “dreams” doesn’t mean you should you wack nigga. For example, You have the money to pay for the best producers, best studio, best videographer but your songs be shitty toilet water fam. Why not save that money you just blew recording the theme song to garbage day for a rainy day. Not everyone can be Jay-Z. But I will say this, those videos do be dope, money well spent IF you actually said something that someone other than your best friend and BM liked. With that said just stop my niggas. Here’s a free tip. Go pick up your favorite rappers newest project , listen to your favorite song on it, then play your best attempt at making music and watch how your shit sounds like pure struggle and desperation in comparison. Just stop I’m begging you! While I’m at it, aye you new “clothing line” niggas you got a min ? Cool, STOP ! Most y’all iron on, bedazzled tee© (Copyright @JohnScinoHs) no sense of style ass lames shirts be looking like summer camp arts and crafts projects. You watering down the cities potential when pitching your fuck shit to people that, to no fault of their own, don’t know any better. The same goes for the music. You all are the used car salesmen of our city/state when we have a solid group of luxury vehicle dealerships that get overlooked due to y’all being FUCKING CORNY! If I was an artist or designer out here I would be punching you niggas in the face every chance I had. You make it hard on the niggas that are putting in that real work and dedication for Their chosen craft. Ok I’m done y’all be cool!

But shout out to the dope niggas/brands out here tho. Like the Dru Barells, Cam Bells, Hil Holla, Ceez, Cru Alexander, Vick Mucka, Lunchbagg, and a few others (I’m drawing a blank but don’t feel a way) and Brands like WATC, Redwood, Thirteen Original, BAR, but again, if I forgot you my fault but if I fuck with you or your brand you already know  If you feel like I’m talking about you I probably am pussy do something. Till next time my niggas.

“Listen To Roger” Album Review By @MrMitch401

“Listen to Roger”

6888ff453c4bd13c026b47f1562cb9fa

The homie @listentoRoger dropped his solo LP yesterday, Entitled “Listen to Roger”. First and foremost, “The introduction” more than sets the tone for a raw, honest album full of quotables and BARS that surprisingly has made it onto my ever so selective iPhone already(I had it early tho lol). Packed with harsh reality bars© You get drawn into the Roger experience all from song one.

“if it be the death of me than fuck it I’ll just let it be, Cuz honesty’s my recipe I couldn’t write a lie if I tried. They Jim Carrey’d me”

Other standouts include the “things niggas REALLY wanna say to an ex that fell off” anthem “No more” shits hilarious. And “Tomorrow” got that I’m drinking this good ol’ tall glass of 1800 and smoking a nice J of the best bud out and saying fuck it vibe “I’ll deal wit it tomorrow” Along with “No time” “Motivation” and “Talk to ya” the homie Roger put together a dope project, and I can honestly say I wouldn’t call not one song Wack (IMO) 1or 2 songs aren’t for me, but def not trash can ready. Overall well worth the download. I give it a 4 out of 5 real nigga middle fingers en shit lol.

Guest Blog: “Quick Rant…Just My Thoughts” By @MrMitch401

Just a quick rant…

What’s good tho ? (I really don’t gaf but its polite to ask )

So, Something was bought to my attention today(not that I didn’t already know but) you niggas really out here taking Taco Bell shits on the next nigga name just to acquire some vag that that nigga prolly tired of anyway? I swear you fucking idiots need guidance. The very last thing that should be mentioned to a female when you’re trying to invade her womb is the dudes name who already resides there. Smfh. How hard is that to understand ? Who raised you dickheads? First of all, a female knows if she wants to fuck you within 20sec of meeting you. With that said the outcome can only go one of two ways. Yes you will, or no you won’t. So by you wasting valuable time wiping your ass on the next mans credibility, if the outcome was to be a yes it’s slowly swinging to a “fuck NO dumb nigga”. Listen my niggas, be brief. Get to the point and keep it truckin bruh. There should be no opportunity to speak on, OR try to find out who she is currently fucking. You ol’ franky ocean ass niggas gotta chill. 2014 is a few months away. These chicks are just as much pieces of shit as us niggas are. You have to be a real different type of gay to try to get at a chick by talking about her nigga. Be honest with these ladies. Most of them respect honesty. Even if they deny you, you will never be called wack, lame, corny, or any other name they use to describe your stupid ass. I PROMISE YOU THAT. If all you want to do is fuck. SAY THAT my nigga. Most the broads (If they’re feeling you like that) only want the same thing. So all that captain cuffer shit is only gonna push you into the “I would never fuck this soft ass nigga” zone. But what do I know I’m just a chubby nigga who’s been kinda successful body snatching over my extensive career of whoring. Just know this tho, you new niggas are extremely lucky I’m retired. Lol

BUT THIS IS JUST MY OPINION I’ve been wrong before and probably will be again so take it for what it’s worth cuh !

Oh yeah follow me I’m kinda funny @MrMitch401 (so what that’s a shameless plug fight me)

Hip Hop Wake-Up Call

By: Juicy Annie

As you all can see, social media outlets went on a frenzy all last night and will continue to do so as long as Hip Hop is around. Welcome to the music world. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion when it comes to their choice of music and the way an artist chooses to deliver their art, just making that clear. There is a huge difference between people who actually appreciate good music or in this case, an artist’s lyricism and those who feed into the hype. Either way it continues to keep Hip Hop relevant.

Okay, SO, Big Sean dropped a track ft. Kendrick Lamar & Jay Electronica named “Control”. Yeah, he definitely caught people’s attention with this one. According to many around me, these three MC’s have delivered some of the hardest verses of the year. Great look for Sean as he prepares to drop his upcoming album “Hall Of Fame”, K. Dot never ceases to amaze me, and Jay Electronica is just always popping out of no where with some dope content, but I love it, keeps us on our feet. Because of sample clearances, this track won’t appear on Sean’s album, whomp! But, we get to enjoy it anyway. The importance of this blog post is what was said on this track! Is Kendrick really the king of New York and two coasts?

Many and most listeners tend to listen to a track just to pick and choose what they want to talk about followed by their half ass opinions without really looking at what’s being said. Excuse my French. This is why Kendrick stole the show and had everyone talking about his verse and his verse only. K. Dot pointed out artist like J.Cole, Big K.R.I.T., Wale, Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Big Sean, Jay Electronica, Tyler, and Mac Miller, but does this mean that he’s dissin’ them? Absolutely NOT! K. Dot tells them what time it is as well as “I got love for you all but I’m trynna murder you n****s..” This is just a metaphor for a wake up call. Some of these statements just go right over some of these so-called music critics’ heads out there. He is solely telling his fellow MC’s to start bringing work to the table and give us, the fans, what we want to hear. If it’s a battle, or an even better “RAW” track, that’s what we want to hear. Just like that, it set the tone for some inspiration. I bet every studio is booked now.

One more thing, Kendrick Lamar isn’t the king of New York, HOV is. LOL BYE!

Jets Over Providence: A Tufftunezz Affair

The creativity of an artist really catches my attention when it comes to their work of art all the way to their stage presence. As a first timer at a Styles P and Curren$y Spitta show, it was great to match an act to the music I often listen to. The energy was booming as the entire venue yelled out, “D-Block” and “Jet Life” while living through this hip-hop experience. It is safe to say that the Jets were flying all over Providence, Rhode Island at the Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel, this past weekend.

IMG_5871

My good ‘ol friends at Tufftunezz and Beyond All Reach put together one of the dopest shows, in my opinion, in the smallest state with the biggest dreams. Being in attendance of prior Tufftunezz events really gave me a vibe of what this one was going to be like. This exceeded my expectations to the max! As a music aficionado, it’s always great to attend shows like these to get a feel of what certain artist are like. But, what’s a Rhode Island show without any Rhode Island artist on the bill? Some had the ability to bless the stage with their presence and talent.

Starting off with Rhode Island artist Zumo Kollie, I had the pleasure or meeting him and seeing him perform live last summer at Firehouse 13. I instantly became a fan and continued to follow his work. To end his set off with a bang, he brought out Cam Bells, formerly known as Yung Cam, and Hil Holla, star of Hard Liquor EP: The Prohibition. The turn up is an understatement for the performance of “Ghost of Escobar Season” produced by RI’s very own producer Jeff Gore. The energy on that stage set it off for the following acts. We next had Cesar Luciano whose performance caught my eye due to the content of his work, which urged me to pick up his latest mixtape. The RI set was closed with a performance by M3, whose energy always gets the crowd excited for more. Concerts and shows are meant for a good time and DJ International Nasty definitely did his thing on the ones and twos.

Now for the headliners of this Jets Over Providence show. I was lucky and cool enough to watch the show from backstage and experience this moment with the Tufftunezz team and other dope people. It’s always great to go back in time with Hip Hop artist and Styles P did just that! You might know him as a member of Hip Hop group “The LOX”, “Ruff Ryders”, and the larger Hip Hop collective “D-Block”. Let me just say, don’t let his height underestimate his talent. He did an amazing job interacting with the crowd and the fans around him as he took a risk and actually performed from inside the crowd! Dope moment right there. This wasn’t the last of Styles P we saw that night.

Last but not least, the main attraction Curren$y Spitta stole the show. I am convinced that the venue, Lupos, will be full of smoke for an entire week. As he came out to bless the stage, the vibe was set to go on this Jet Life journey. It was great to finally watch one of my favorite artists perform noticing many things to make me love him even more. As I said before, creativity catches my eye, and Spitta did a great job at it. He came out wearing sweatpants and mid top air forces. If that isn’t laid back, I don’t know what is, making the experience even better. This brings the comments on his mannerism’s, which are over the top, but distinguishes and differentiates him from other artist. Almost at the end of the show, he took the initiative of signing autographs for the audience, which immediately brought a smile to my face. Who doesn’t enjoy fan interaction? As I soaked his set in and realized what I just witnessed, I remembered him performing songs off my favorite tape, “Covert Coup” and then hopped off the cloud I was on. Jet Life, Jet Life, Jet Life.

THE INTRIGUING
. NEW YORK KNICKS

NYC1

The New York Knicks are by far the most intriguing team in the NBA.  This is primarily due to the possibility of the leagues’ largest market organization returning to the big stage in the playoffs this spring. Let’s be clear, the Knicks are a serious threat in the Eastern Conference, because of the way they have constructed their current roster after the dumpster fire that it had been from 2001 to 2011. Finally they have a team where the pieces seem to fit, everyone has a clear and defined role, and they have a coach in place that will instill the defensive structure needed in order to get key stops in April and May. The biggest improvement that the Knicks made in the off-season was also what brought them the most scrutiny; adding several veteran players. Jason Kidd, Kurt Thomas, and Rasheed Wallace have all seen better days, but what they bring to a team on the floor and an organization off the floor cannot be measured with stats or advanced metrics. They are culture changers, especially Jason Kidd, they bring toughness, impart wisdom, maintain stability, and most importantly, they hold everyone accountable. Last year’s addition of 7-foot defensive workhorse Tyson Chandler brought a certain level of seriousness to a team that was struggling to find an identity. Complimentary players like Ronnie Brewer, Iman Shumpert, and Steve Novak make it much easier to field a solid team on days when talented, but mercurial J.R. Smith goes off the reservation and deviates from the team concept that has been put in place by the coaching staff. There is a lot to like about this New York Knicks team, they have a very high ceiling, but their success will rest on a few pairs of very broad shoulders, and it will be interesting to see how things unfold as winter gives way to spring. The Los Angeles Lakers: The Case For Mike D’Antoni

Ever since the Los Angeles Lakers hired Mike D’Antoni on Monday, November 12th instead of the “Zen Master” Phil Jackson, the outcry from Laker fans and the basketball world in general has been loud and resounding: the Lakers made the wrong move! Would hiring Phil Jackson have been a coup for the Lakers? Yes, you can’t go wrong with a coach who has won 11 championship rings, five of which came while coaching the Los Angeles Lakers, but talks broke down for a myriad of reasons in which the details are murky at best. Mike D’Antoni wasn’t a bad second option to fall back on. He is a fairly accomplished coach, but has often been savaged on social networks and by the worldwide leader in sports journalism, ESPN. The summary of these critiques are basically state that he does not coach defense, he has a big ego, he won’t be able to handle the pressure of coaching in Los Angeles, and his flawed system will not be able to help bring the Lakers another championship. While professional analysts will spew these opinions verbatim, I say to you these assertions are absolutely ridiculous and very short sighted. I understand that Lakers fans really wanted Phil Jackson, but if memory serves, the last time Phil Jackson coached the Lakers they were swept in the second round by the Dallas Mavericks in unceremonious fashion. Does the image of a broom with a purple and gold back drop ring a bell? Not to mention that Jackson has had hip and knee replacement surgery recently, is 67 years old, and wasn’t sure if he still had the fire to coach. The major knock on D’Antoni is that while his offensive system is entertaining and can win games in the regular season, his defensive philosophy will leave his teams exposed in the playoffs. If you listen to First Take or Kurt Rambis (a Phil Jackson acolyte) on Sports Center, you would think the Lakers just hired a high school coach. But Mike D’Antoni’s record as a coach deserves a MUCH closer look. Continue reading “Guest Blog: “The Los Angeles Lakers: The Case For Mike D’Antoni” By @ProfessorCorria”

The Unappreciated Greatness of Kevin Garnett.

By Professor Corria

Nobody brings it like Kevin Garnett. Kevin Garnett possesses a myriad of skills and talents, but his greatest strength as a basketball player is the fact that he competes every single night. As a man who has accumulated $291,362,398 Million dollars in his career thus far, in on the court earnings and stands to earn another $36,010,000 million dollars over the next three years, he still competes like he won’t eat if his team doesn’t win. How do you measure the worth of a player? How do you measure the worth of a man? Is it the stats, the wins, how good of a teammate he is? I look at Kevin Garnett and I see a trailblazer, a fierce competitor, a revered teammate and a man who got the most out of the talent that he had. He’s prepared mentally and physically for every game, every season and never cheats the fans that spend their time and money to watch him. Garnett never gets the acclaim or recognition that he deserves because he played the PRIME of his career for small-market Minnesota, and when he finally got to a big market, he was coming to “Paul Pierce’s team”. When he came to the Boston Celtics he transformed the culture of a raggedy lottery team, and molded them into a 66 win defensive juggernaut that captured the NBA title. Guest Blog: “Why The Miami Heat Will Win The 2013 NBA Championship” By: @ProfessorCorria

WHY THE MIAMI HEAT WILL WIN THE 2013 NBA CHAMPIONSHIP

There are two reasons I feel that the Miami Heat will capture this year’s NBA title: 1.) LeBron James and 2.) The ability of the Miami Heat to play small ball because of LeBron James. Let’s be clear, LeBron James is the BEST player in the NBA, and it’s by a wide margin. He is the best player in the NBA for a vast amount of reasons, the largest being the fact that he gives the Miami Heat coaching staff supreme lineup flexibility. LeBron James is the Queen on the chess board, he is dangerous from every spot on the floor and the closer he gets to the rim, the more devastating he can be.  The fact that LeBron is posting up more and basically playing power forward for the Heat is allowing Miami to operate at their optimum level. How many times have you watched your favorite team play and wish they could put their 5 best players out there on the court but they can’t because of the position they play? Well Miami doesn’t have that problem. Their best lineup is LeBron James, Dwayne Wade , Chris Bosh, Big wing player X(Mike Miller or Shane Battier) and Smaller wing player Y(Mario Chalmers, Norris Cole or Ray Allen. This has terrified almost every single team in the league into making acquisitions and tinkering with different lineups trying to find ways to matchup with this small ball lineup. Guest Blog: “Why TM103 Takes GFID To School” by @iTalk2Slick

Class is in session. Take your seat, break out a pencil and take notes. I’m about to tell you why TM103 is a better album than God Forgives, Fans Don’t. Actually, I won’t even disrespect Ross like that because the album wasn’t trash at all. God Forgives, I Don’t was a decent album. I give it spins on my iPod so don’t think that this post is me saying why it isn’t a good album. I’m simply explaining why I feel like TM103 is a BETTER album. That disclaimer was for the stupid people who can’t tell the difference. Music is subjective. So you may not agree with me and that’s cool. You want to argue then write your own blog post. Alright. Let’s get to this.

Off rip I’m throwing two tracks off both albums. I hate when artists use old songs on their albums as fillers. I feel it’s lazy. So Ballin’ and Lose My Mind are getting booted from the discussion as are Rich Forever and Triple Beam Dreams. Those were both mixtape tracks so leave em on the mixtapes. That leaves 16 tracks for Jeezy and 14 for Ross (minus the spoken intro) to analyze.

Both albums came in hard on their intros. Jeezy told us that the people have been Waiting on TM103 which they had after a long delay. Ross came with Pirates which had a tough beat and was easy to ride to. They both opened their albums in a way which had you excited for what was still to come. The first tracks with features on them were OJ for Jeezy and 3 Kings for Ross. All three verses on OJ were dope. Each artist held their own. Not so much on 3 Kings. Ross and Dre both dropped forgettable verses. Hov did what he normally does on tracks and dropped a dope verse. Even with his verse the song didn’t just blow me away. It was just alright. OJ had me hype every time I listened to it. Ashamed (GFID) and Nothing (TM103) were both once again solid tracks for both artists. Nothing was one of my favorites on TM103. Guest Blog: “Mercy Flush” by @MrMitch401

“I wrote this blog on the toilet / so it gotta be the shit” ~Troy Ave  (sorta)

It’s 7:28am on a Monday , I’m sitting here taking my morning shit , and like that it hits me ! I say to myself “Nigga flush this shit, your ass stinks” so I flush. Then the thought runs across my mind as to how my dumb ass needs to apply this same logic to my phone . When theres some stinky shit chillin in your  inbox , DON’T FORGET TO FLUSH ! For example. You ever be deep into a text or dm convo that you probably shouldn’t be having? Nah ? Me neither . But for the sake of this blog just follow along. So yeah like I was saying, those text/ dm’s start to get juicy and something lands in your inbox that you might want to refer back to at a later date. DO NOT SAVE IT !!! Flush that shit faster than you would a simple “hey” . If not the potential to get yourself jammed up over what may prob be nothing serious just increased 10 fold. Woman are suspicious by nature, and don’t want to end up looking like her girl that gets shitted on by every nigga she deals with(They all have that 1 friend). Plus if you’ve done wrong in the past she will never fully forgive you nor trust you the same ever again in life, Fuck what she says. And ladies there are some soft ass Drake like niggas that will fish through your shit to see if you passing out box offerings to a real nigga such as myself via text. So this applies to you as well.

I now apply the “Mercy Flush technique©” to my phone as well as my am dumps. As soon as that suggestive text/dm pops up on your phone follow these steps to save yourself a day or two of explaining .(if that’s what you choose to do. I prefer the “stay the fuck out of my shit technique” but I ain’t shit so don’t follow my moves) 1:Read 2: Respond 3:Mercy flush (DELETE) . It’s that simple . Now repeat that process for as long as the convo continues. And trust me you will continue to have a happy home/Relationship to side chick/nigga ratio. No need to thank me this is just common sense that people sometimes forget to apply to daily life, but I got y’all ! Now let me “mercy flush ” this off my note pad before this is the new topic of discussion. Aight I’m out my legs Fallin asleep and I gotta wipe.  Y’all be cool how y’all be cool and don’t forget to flush !
