Jay Electronica took to Twitter last night and flat out denied that he ever wrote lyrics for Nas. Well, to be completely accurate he said Nas ânever has and never will need a ghostwriterâ sooo yeah he pretty much denied it.
stic.man also posted a follow up to the parapraph he posted on Facebook yesterday and in it he specifically addresses dream and her statements and elaborates on his role in the creation of Untitled:
Dream Hampton. I certainly donât mean to call u a hater. I am just being brought up to speed about your tweet. I heard the ârumorsâ from other tweets and a few emails from fans. I still havenât read your tweet. So my statement was just being clear on how I felt about the collab. That was a great opportunity for me to work with one of the most influential emcees to my own personal flow and craft. I canât speak on what Jay and Nas collab was cause I wasnât there and thatâs there business. Both of those cats are awesome lyricists in my opinion. But for me I was just a white belt that answered the call for a session with a master of the craft. And I assisted where it was requested with ideas, beats and some writing. Not because Nas âneededâ me lolâŠAgain I was just honored to get the call. Nas new album Life is Good is lyrically magnificent and his skills have always spoken for them self. So thatâs just my view I respect that folks may field different ways about it. Just clarifying my position.
And I referred to it as a ârumorâ because obviously no one of the people talking about it were present in the session. So people can sometimes think they know but werenât present so they speak on what they think as opposed to being there.
ââŠI assisted where it was requested with ideas, beats and some writing.â
stic.man goes into explicit detail with VIBE about him and M1âČs role in the creation of âSly Foxâ and âWe Are Not Aloneâ. This is really the kind of clarification I was looking for on the topic.
I don’t think Nas needs a ghostwriter, & if he says it’s all him let’s just leave it there & move on.
