Rocky sat down with VIBE to chop it up a bit. A$AP Rocky ultimately opened up more on Yams’ passing. Too upset to attend the actual proceedings, Rocky instead attended Yams’ actual burial:

“I was outside in the car — in the sprinter van,” A$AP Rocky reveals to VIBE about A$AP Yams’ funeral. “Nobody knew I was there. I just went to the burial in the snow. It was a snowstorm. That shit was disgusting outside. Damn near a blizzard.”

OTF Nunu Shot Dead In Chicago

Chicago rapper OTF Nunu, who part of Lil Durk’s OTF crew, was shot and killed today in the city. According to Chicago Tribune, Nunu was killed in the parking lot of Chatham Village Square mall when someone walked up to him and shot him multiple times. He tried to escape but crashed his car into a store. He was just about to release his Nuski Got Da Strap mixtape this summer.

R.I.P Lil Snupe

Details are scarce, but Meek Mill’s artist Lil Snupe was fatally shot last night. Reportedly, over a dice game. His manager confirmed the death this morning via Twitter.  Seven days ago, Snupe posted the photo above from his 18th birthday party.

Chris Kelly (Kris Kross) Found Dead In His Atlanta Home

News began to spread earlier that former teen hip-hop pioneer Chris Kelly of the popular 90s group Kriss Kross had been found dead in his Atlanta home this evening. According to the Fulton County Medical center Kelly was pronounced dead not too long after 8p.m. this evening. The rap duo Kris Kross were very popular in the early 90s for their rap talent at such a young age and famously wearing athletic attire and backwards pants. After connecting and signing with So So Def CEO Jermaine Durpi Kriss Kross quickly reached success on the billboard chart with their hit single “Jump” Chris Kelly will be missed the the entire hip-hop culture.

Capital STEEZ (Of Pro Era) Dead At Age 19

This is just some sad, shocking and upsetting news. Brooklyn’s Capital STEEZ, of the Pro Era crew, has passed away at the early age of 19. The cause of death is unknown yet but reports are suggesting that Capital Steez took his own life, based on his last tweet. Joey Badass_ took to his Twitter to confirm the news and give his reaction.

Chris Lighty, Founder Of Violator Found Dead

Longtime Hip Hop executive Chris Lighty has died. News broke today (August 30) first on Twitter and then confirmed on VIBE.com that the Bronx, New York native and founder of Violator Entertainment died from an alleged suicide. Details are still emerging.

N.O.R.E. mourned the passing on Twitter, saying:

Hip-hop mogul Chris Lighty died Thursday morning after apparently shooting himself in the head in his Bronx apartment, sources told the Daily News.

Lighty, 44 — a longtime manager of 50 Cent, Diddy, Ja Rule and Mariah Carey — was found dead inside his South Riverdale apartment about 11:30 a.m., police sources said.

It appeared he died from a bullet to his head, sources said. A gun was recovered next to his body.
Law enforcement sources said Lighty — who divorced his wife, Veronica, last year — may have been dealing with financial struggles, including owing about $5 million to the IRS.

R.I.P. Sherman Hemsley

TMZ reports:

Sherman Hemsley, the actor who made the character George Jefferson famous in “The Jeffersons,” has died, El Paso cops tell TMZ.

Hemsley died at his home in El Paso, Texas.

Hemsley, who was 74, became famous during his appearances on “All in the Family.” The spin-off, “The Jeffersons” was a monster hit. He also starred in the TV show, “Amen.” He was also a professional singer and even released the single in 1989, “Ain’t that A Kick in the Head.”

Hemsley had no wife and no kids.

It’s unclear how he died.

Rodney King Dead At 47

VIA: Los Angeles (CNN) — Rodney King, whose beating by Los Angeles police in 1991 was caught on camera and sparked riots after the acquittal of the four officers involved, was found dead in his swimming pool Sunday, authorities and his fiancee confirmed. He was 47.

King’s beating after a high-speed car chase and its aftermath forever changed Los Angeles, its police department and the dialogue on race in America.

King was 25 and on parole after a robbery conviction in April 1991. In an interview in 2011, he recalled he had been drinking and was headed home from a friend’s house when he saw a police car following him and panicked, thinking he would be sent back to prison. So he attempted to flee.

“I had a job to go to that Monday, and I knew I was on parole, and I knew I wasn’t supposed to be drinking, and I’m like ‘Oh, my God,’” he told CNN.
