Bodega x New Balance 997S “Better Days”

After giving us a “No Days Off” and “No Bad Days” version of the New Balance 997S in 2019, Bodega and New Balance are once again joining forces for another colorful collaboration.

Dubbed the Bodega x New Balance 997S “Better Days,” the upcoming silhouette was originally revealed by the Clippers star forward Kawhi Leonard. The silhouette is constructed from a mix of mesh, leather, and suede and features vibrant contrasting accents and lightning bolt tongue tabs. Rounding out the final details on the Bodega 997S collab is an ABZORB and ENCAP cushioned sole.

The New Balance x Bodega 997S “Better Days” is the conclusion of a series of 997s celebrating and encouraging the individual initiative and communal spirit of an optimistic outlook. To highlight the fact that better days can be shaped into any form, Bodega has paired with members of the creative arena, who have shared their own conceptions of better days, and generously shared a glimpse into their mindsets and creative processes.

Look for the Bodega x New Balance 997S “Better Days” to release in select retailers this Friday, September 25th.

Bodega x New Balance 997S “No Bad Days”

In some ways, you can think of no bad days as the next step of no days off. If No Days Off was about pushing through the natural impulses to stand still in favor of making every day a productive one, No Bad Days is about pushing through the natural impulse to allow instinctual, physical reactions to dictate your state of being, and ending every day with a positive mindset.

Like the No Days Off variant, the No Bad Days 997S is fully intended for daily use, so the basic structure of the shoe, mesh uppers, leather and suede overlays, neoprene bootie, dual ABZORB and ENCAP cushioning and laminate heel counter remain the same. The transition to a mentally focused approach is marked by an inversion of placement. On the No Days Off model, The distressed suede, was featured prominently on the lateral overlay panel and wavy, 660 inspired mudguard.

These high visibility areas outwardly projected the physical results of the no days off ethos. On the No Bad Days 997S, the lateral overlay panel and mudguard are rendered in leather, with the distressed suede relocating to the medial overlay. This inversion is repeated with the dimple embossed neoprene, which also relocates to the lateral of the No Bad Days. This rearrangement keeps the results of your daily efforts evident, if you know where to look, but presents a fresh, undeterred face as a first impression.

Bodega x ASICS Gel Lyte V

Adding to its lengthy resume of collaborations, Bodega has partnered with ASICS to outfit the Gel Lyte V with a Gore-Tex-infused makeover. Boasting a lively palette, this weather-ready variation also comes with an individually numbered bottle, $100,  a mixtape, and is housed inside a Bodega-branded case. Having kicked off its six-city drop in Boston, New York is up next tomorrow followed by Los Angeles on the 15th, London on the 19th, Sydney on the 22nd, and Tokyo rounding things out on the 26th. Bodega x Converse Poorman Weapon

Bodega and Converse have once again joined forces – this time to re-imagine the Poorman Weapon as a sophisticated beast yet unseen by the world. Transforming the original silhouette into a super high-top that can be worn rolled down, the focus of this project was to achieve harmony between the chosen materials. An extra high refined waxed canvas upper is paired with a supple deerskin lining to make this Poorman’s Weapon seem not quite so poor. The natural properties of deerskin leather shine with its extremely high strength and resistance to abrasion. Generally used for motorcycle gloves, deerskin’s unique fiber structure keeps you cool at high noon and warm as night falls. The charcoal colorway keeps this forward thinking shoe toned down, while a gusseted tongue and waxed laces combined with the leather’s inherent water repellent qualities keep it an all weather shoe.<!–more–>

A release is set for Saturday, March 13th at Bodega. The shoe will come in a custom ballistic nylon case lined with shearling. An etched flask will be included for those over 21 years of age. This pack retails for $120 USD, is limited to 100 sets and contains all the elements necessary for surviving the long winter and wet spring.
